The Board of Directors of Historic Hertford, Inc.’s Main Street Program is proud to sponsor this event. We are an active organization whose mission is to:
- Facilitate the development of Hertford’s Historic District as the cultural, economic, social and historic center of Perquimans County.
- Foster strategic civic, government and business alliances.
- Help Hertford move forward, yet stay true to its roots.
Through events such as this one, we have been able to improve the street scape in the main business area, refurbish Missing Mill Park, provide signage in both the downtown area and at the gateways to the historic district, effect zoning changes to increase the downtown business district, and assist in the production of promotional pieces about Hertford for UNC-TV. Historic Hertford works closely with the Town of Hertford on these projects.
In addition to the Indian Summer Festival, we sponsor an Antique Show and Sale, a Holiday House Tour and the Grand Illumination of the historic district, the Pig-Out on the Green, merchant promotions, and the beautification of downtown. We rely on volunteers to carry out these projects and thank them for their countless hours of service. While you are enjoying the activities and vendors here today, take time to visit the many fine stores, restaurants and historical homes that ARE Historic Hertford.
